The Bernard King Library building is a shared study and learning environment. These expectations apply to everyone using the building.
Please:
- Treat other Library users and staff with respect. Abusive, threatening, intimidating or seriously disruptive behaviour is not acceptable.
- Be considerate of people studying around you. Use the appropriate group, quiet or silent study area and keep noise at a level suitable for that space.
- Use study spaces fairly. Do not reserve desks, PCs or study rooms by leaving belongings unattended, and do not prevent others from using available spaces.
- Look after the Library. Use furniture, equipment and Library materials appropriately and leave your study space tidy.
- Follow the Library's food and drink arrangements. Hot food is limited to Level 1. Drinks taken elsewhere in the Library must be in resealable containers.
- Keep yourself and others safe. Do not obstruct access or emergency routes, and follow instructions from University staff in an emergency.
- Follow reasonable directions from Library, Support Enquiry Zone or Security staff where these are needed to maintain a safe and appropriate environment for everyone using the Library.
If someone's behaviour seriously or repeatedly disrupts others or breaches these expectations, they may be asked to leave the Library and further action may be taken under the relevant University procedures.
