Your reading list is a carefully curated list of the most relevant resources, chosen by your tutors, to support the topics discussed in each module. Items, such as books, ebooks, journal articles, websites, videos etc are organised according to the needs of the module, and tagged according to their importance, allowing you to prioritise your reading.

Your reading list could be a comprehensive list of everything you need for that module, or a short list of the key readings. Either way, your reading list is a great way to start your research before deciding whether you need to look beyond that and conduct your own independent research.

How do I find my lists?

From MyLearningSpace (MLS), simply navigate to your module and follow the 'Reading List' tile.  Not every module will have a set reading list, but if no link exists, and you're unsure, please check with your module leader.

Thereafter, link directly to My Lists - here you can find all available reading lists for modules you're enrolled on.  NOTE: the first time you access your list, do so from the Reading List tile in MLS, otherwise you may not be able to access your list.

What does my list look like?

Some lists will be organised in sections by priority eg Essential or Recommended, whilst others might be arranged by Week or Topic detailing the items you're expected to read.

This short video explains your list.

TIPS:

  • Items can be tagged according to their importance eg Essential - these are the ones to prioritise!
  • Check if the item is available online - look for links 'View online' or 'Check availability'. We have a huge collection of ebooks and online journals!
  • Check any notes or chapter details. Sometimes you'll be directed to only read certain chapters.
Why is the book I'm after not available as an ebook?
I've tried to open an ebook, but it won't open. What should I do?
The book I need is out on loan, what do I do?
