Problems often happen when students do not realise that comments or tracked changes are still visible in the document.
Common examples include:
- Submitting a file with tracked changes still showing. Markers may see edits, deleted text or unresolved changes.
- Leaving comments in the document. Comments may include tutor feedback, supervisor notes, questions to yourself or draft planning notes.
- Accepting some changes but not others by mistake. This can leave the final document inconsistent or incomplete.
- Hiding markup without removing it. Changing the display to “No Markup” only hides tracked changes on your screen. It does not remove them. Anyone opening your submitted file may still be able to see edits and comments unless you accept or reject the changes and delete the comments.
- Working on the wrong version of the document. This can happen when you have several copies saved with similar names.
These problems are easy to miss if you only check the document quickly before submitting.
