Studiosity

Studiosity will allow you to upload almost complete drafts of your essays, reports and other written assessment types before you submit them. The drafts are reviewed by experts in academic writing and detailed feedback, explaining how your work can be improved, will be sent to you. You can expect to receive feedback within 24 hours or less.

What does the feedback cover?

Feedback will cover:

• Spelling and grammar
• Document structure
• Use of language
• Argument development

You should be able to correct any issues by following the guidance given and then use this feedback as a checklist to help you improve your next assessment.

What does the feedback not cover?

Feedback is not subject-specific.

This means that as a Sports Science student, for example, you will not get feedback on whether you've correctly understood the relationship between anxiety and performance or used the most appropriate sources to answer the question. The feedback you will get is purely about the quality of your writing and covers the points listed above.

You will not receive feedback from Studiosity on your use of sources. 

Instead, if you would like to further check your sources work, you can submit draft versions of your work to Turnitin. Turnitin generates a ‘Turnitin Similarity’ index score and  an Originality Report, allowing you to identify and address any issues with citing, referencing, and paraphrasing before you submit the final version for assessment. Who is providing the feedback?

Feedback is provided by online tutors covering all time zones. 

Please note that when you submit your work to Studiosity, it is always secure and only stored for the purpose of being accessible by you in your account.

From the MyLearningSpace homepage or from within any module, go to the ‘Study Support’ dropdown list in the navigation bar and choose 'Studiosity'.

This will activate your account via MyLearningSpace and automatically direct you to the Studiosity dashboard.

To upload your document to the Writing Feedback service for written feedback, you first need to log in to your Studiosity account through MyLearningSpace or the app.

Once you're logged in, click on the 'Submit your document' button.

Next, fill out the submission form on the next page. Make sure you fill out all mandatory fields and that your document size is under 4MB.  You won't be able to submit your document until each section has a green tick next to it, as follows: 

Once you have added all the necessary information, click ‘Submit for Review'.

Top tip: Don’t leave your submission to Studiosity to the last minute! You need to plan enough time to read the feedback, ask questions, and make changes where necessary before you submit your final version.

When you receive your feedback, you can read through the Specialist's comments and make changes to your writing. If you would like to discuss any of the comments, you can always Connect Live to an English Specialist anytime 24/7, attach your file and go through the feedback in a live session with them.

Studiosity also has a feature called 'Connect Live', which is a live chat service that connects you to an advisor who can help with study skills, English writing, basic maths and statistics, and more. They can help unblock a quick problem or point you in the right direction back at the university for more help. 

In terms of the maths and statistics advice, if you tell them what problem/question you are working on, they will show you the principles of how to solve the problem/question using another data set so that you can then apply the thinking to your own problem/question.

Studiosity may send an early academic or wellbeing intervention alert to the Learner Development Team in relation to a written submission or a chat on Connect Live if they feel more support could be helpful, for example, with time management or grammatical accuracy.

If this happens, you will receive an email from studyskills@abertay.ac.uk with the subject heading ‘Study Skills Appointment’. It is up to you whether you would like to take up a suggested appointment or advice given in the email.

Lecturers and tutors will not know you have used Studiosity or received an alert as they do not have access to the platform or emails from the Studiosity team.

Yes, once you have activated your account via MyLearningSpace you can also download the app and get your Writing Feedback on the go, as soon as its ready. Or Connect Live with a Subject Specialist wherever you may be.
