Inter-library loans

To login:

• New Users: Register to use interlibrary loans at https://ill.abertay.ac.uk - login with your network username and password then complete the registration form.
• Existing Users: Log in to https://ill.abertay.ac.uk using your network username and password.

• Complete the online application form. Please ensure that you give us full details of the item you require otherwise this will delay your request. As the service is heavily subsidised all requests must be authorised by your course tutor.
• We strongly advise that you discuss your requests with your tutor before submitting it to Interlibrary loans as a non refundable fee (£5.00) is charged for each request. Once you submit your request your tutor will be contacted to authorise your request.

Document delivery
Journal articles will usually be supplied by the British Library using DRM Lite. Once you have registered for a free British Library On Demand account, the British Library will email a link to your Abertay email account which will give you access to view the item as a PDF.

Book Loans
Books are supplied as a loan and must be collected from and returned to SEZ.

How long does it take?
As the items are supplied by another library we cannot guarantee to obtain any item within a specified period. However:

• We aim to send your request to the British Library within 48 working hours of receiving your payment and authorisation from your tutor. You should allow 10 working days for loans but DRM Lite electronic article delivery tends to be much faster usually within 5 working days or less.
• Occasionally items will not be held at the British Library and these can take considerably longer.

Cost:

• This service is heavily subsidised but there is an administration charge of £5.00 for each request. This charge is non refundable.
• Overdues and renewals are charged at £5.35 per item.
• The British Library charges a minimum of £182.80 for each lost or damaged item so you are advised to take care with any loan. This charge is non-refundable once the British Library has sent an invoice.
• Payments for your interlibrary loan requests can be made through your library account: go to Library Search > My Account > Pay fines, or at SEZ. Any requests not paid for after 2 weeks will be cancelled.
